More than nine million visitors are expected to watch 10,000 athletes compete in 26 sports at 34 venues around the UK. Maths is playing a critical part in the design and construction of these stunning venues. Paul Shepherd, who has helped to design sports stadiums around the world, shares the secrets behind the building of the Olympic Park and explores the practical ways that mathematics is being used in the construction and operation of this spectacular event. |
